Playa de la Barraca, Javea

Thursday, May 30, 2013

Deciding that the Les Rotes beaches in Denia weren't really what we were looking for, we piled back into the car and buckled up for a drive along the coast towards Javea. We were originally looking for a different beach but seeing signs pointing down into a beautiful, secluded bay we decided to take a peek. Rounding the corner to see the turqouise waters lapping over the pebbly white beach, we knew right away that we'd found just the ticket.

Playa de la Barraca is set in a beautiful secluded cove only accessible by car, or on foot if you're brave enough to take on the hill. Once again, we had the beach almost to ourselves and couldn't have felt further from the tourist trail.

The water was amazingly clean and fresh and once you'd slipped and slided over the shiny pebbles and into the sea you can swim or wade out far into the bay. There's also diving, going in from the beach, but I didn't think ahead to bring my log book. Seriously looking forward to returning to my job at Diving La Sirena in L'Estartit and donning my wetsuit once more this summer though.
